A Girl in Pieces

Author - Kathleen Glasgow

Published - August 30th, 2016

Synopsis

Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she’s already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don’t have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you.

Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

A deeply moving portrait of a girl in a world that owes her nothing, and has taken so much, and the journey she undergoes to put herself back together. Kathleen Glasgow's debut is heartbreakingly real and unflinchingly honest. It’s a story you won’t be able to look away from.

My Review
Bitmoji Image

Ok so I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything in it for me. But it was also hard for me to read. As a mom reading this book broke my heart to read what this girl went through. It also had me worried for my own daughter when she goes to school and the battles she will face. But what really had me was the insecurities this young girl had. I don’t know about you, but it brought back some old feelings I use to have in high school. Such as not feeling cool enough or pretty enough.

In this book you will see how hard this young teenage girls’ life is and how hard she tries to fight through her illness and get her life back on track after hitting rock bottom. Now she does make some mistakes along hey way. Which I am sure we all have made just by being young and naïve, I know I am sure as hell guilty of it.

I think this book will help a lot of young boys and girls to help them understand not jut them but a friend in need. If you see something say something. If you feel alone don’t there is always someone going through what you are going through or worse.

Truly this story is amazing, inspiring and overall amazing. You ill love this read. You are wont regret it. I think this book is great for adults as well not just the YA crowd. Check it out and see another side of a struggle.
